Downtown San Diego
- The 258-room W San Diego (619.398.3100; www.thewsandiegohotel.com) finished a $5 million renovation of the lobby, restaurant, bar and meeting spaces. The facility offers 18 meeting rooms and event areas, with 20,000 square feet of function space.
North San Diego County
- The 250-room LEGOLAND Hotel (877.534.6526; http://california.legoland.com/legoland-hotel) is under construction and expected to open this May with a pool, restaurant and special Lego decor. The hotel is located at the entrance of LEGOLAND California.
- The Residence Inn San Diego Del Mar (858.481.8800; www.marriott.com) will open in April with 118 suites and one meeting room.
- The 235-room Holiday Inn San Diego Bayside (619.224.3621; www.holinnbayside.com) is undergoing a 44,000-square-foot expansion, including a new grand entrance and lobby, 57 new guest rooms, a 3,400-square-foot ballroom and a boardroom, complementing the facility’s current 5,000 square feet of event space. The expansion will be finished this summer.
- A 150-room Marriott Springhill Suites (800.831.4004; www.marriott.com) is slated to open in December in Oceanside.
- The 662-room Harrah’s Rincon Casino & Resort San Diego (760.751.3100; www.harrahsrincon.com) in Valley Center is expanding with a new 403-room hotel. The new tower is slated to open in April 2014. The resort is also expanding event space from 13,500 square feet to approximately 39,000 square feet by the end of this year.
- Last July, the 150-room Hyatt Place San Diego/Carlsbad (760.814.8879; www.hyattplace.com) opened in North County with approximately 1,500 square feet of meeting space, a business center, guest kitchen, cafe and fitness center.
- The 110-room Hotel La Jolla (858.459.0261; www.hotellajolla.com) wrapped up a $4 million renovation last August with a new lobby, more than 950 square feet of meeting space and a new restaurant.
South San Diego County
- The Viejas Casino and Resort (619.445.5400; www.viejas.com)
is slated to open a 128-room hotel in March. The facility will feature 99 guest rooms and 29 suites, along with a pool, lounge, fitness center and business center.
- The 78-room Pier South (800.831.4004; www.marriott.com) will open this month on the site of the former Seacoast Inn in Imperial Beach. The hotel is one of only two hotels located directly on the sand in San Diego. The luxury property is part of the Marriott Autograph Collection.
