The latest new hotels and group venues to grace Omaha and Council Bluffs

Omaha

  • At press time, the 12-story, extended stay Residence Inn by Marriott Omaha Downtown was on track to open in July with 152 guest rooms and four meeting rooms totaling 1,700 square feet. A fitness center, Wi-Fi, complimentary breakfast and a relaxing outdoor patio overlooking a sculpture park are among the property’s amenities.
  • In January, the 300-room Omaha Marriott Hotel completed a renovation that included updates to its lobby, restaurant, bar space, business center and front desk area.
  • Last October, the 414-room Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Omaha Downtown, formerly the Doubletree Downtown Omaha, completed a $20 million renovation of all guest rooms and suites, and updated its third-floor meeting space and 9,000-square-foot grand ballroom.

Council Bluffs

  • Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites Council Bluffs at Ameristar Casino Hotel finished a $2 million meeting room and hotel lobby renovation in fall 2012.
  • Union Pacific Museum features a new interactive exhibit that allows visitors to view historic 3D images from the 1860s through one of two electronic stereocard viewers. There are more than 60 images on display, including shots of the construction of the transcontinental railroad and communities and people along the railroad’s route from Omaha to Sacramento, Calif.
