PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla.
The Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., has undertaken a refresh, slated to debut in December 2013. From revamped Presidential and Villa Suites to re-envisioned restaurants and meeting spaces, the resort-wide project aims to instill a distinct sense of place that embraces its heritage as a leading golf destination.
The refreshed resort focuses on creating a natural beach resort atmosphere that rejuvenates guests throughout their stay. Upon entering the resort, guests are welcomed to a refreshed open-air porte-cochère that will transform the welcome experience with elements of wood and stone surrounded by landscaped gardens. Down the lobby staircase, the enhanced lower lobby experience welcomes guests to a convivial space where they can gather, relax, read, dine and drink. New oversized furnishings and warmer hues set the tone for an inviting atmosphere that resembles that of a private residence.
The resort will replace one of its onsite restaurants, The Augustine Grill, with an expanded Starbucks and General Store that will sell items from snacks to gourmet specialty food items for visitors looking to grab something to go. The resort will revamp Café on the Green-the resort's signature restaurant, changing the name to Vernon's and adding floor-to-ceiling views of the lagoon overlooking the TPC Sawgrass Course.
The resort's 80 signature Golf Villas, adjacent to the Island Green Pavilion, will be enhanced throughout, with all new furniture, finishes, fixtures, appliances, and carpet.
Already a hot spot for business travelers and the meetings market, special attention is being paid to the 56,000 square feet of meeting space with details ranging from new wall coverings, seating, light fixtures and carpeting in the 12 distinct meeting spaces. Ballrooms, pre-function areas, meeting rooms and boardrooms will be completely revitalized with new artwork and memorabilia that will be a focal point throughout the resort.
