Toronto applauded for sustainable meetings

Tourism Toronto was the first CVB outside the U.S. to be recognized for its role in making Toronto an environmentally sustainable meetings and conference destination, for which the city has achieved Level One designation from the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). The certification system was created in 2012 with input from the Green Meeting Industry Council (GMIC).

Tourism Toronto partnered with the city of Toronto, the Direct Energy Centre and the Metro Toronto Convention Centre to plant 600 trees and 6,000 flowers across the city, and the CVB itself purchases carbon offsets for all flight travel done by its staff, clients and media.
