Mandarin No More: Waldorf Astoria Plans Vegas Debut

LAS VEGAS

Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, Hilton’s luxury brand, announced it will convert the Mandarin Oriental on the Las Vegas Strip to the Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas in August 2018. Waldorf Astoria will assume full operation of the property with plans to reimagine and renovate the hotel.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will cease management of the iconic Vegas property on August 30, 2018, consequent to the sale of the hotel by CityCenter Holdings, LLC—a joint venture between MGM Resorts and Infinity World Development Corp.

“We are thrilled to announce the addition of a Waldorf Astoria in the western part of the U.S., and in the heart of such a dynamic, internationally beloved city like Las Vegas,” said Martin Rinck, global head, Luxury & Lifestyle Group, Hilton.

“Las Vegas continues to be one of the most exciting and luxurious cities in the world and we have a real opportunity to introduce the Waldorf Astoria brand in this market, where so many of the city’s visitors seek the highly covetable, unforgettable experiences that are ingrained in the Waldorf Astoria way of life," he added.

The property currently features 392 guest rooms, 12,300 square feet of function space as well as an outdoor pool deck that can be used for events, a full-service spa and multiple dining options, including a 23rd floor bar.

The hotel’s proximity to all of the amenities of ARIA Resort & Casino also gives guests access to a state-of-the-art gaming facility and 500,000 square feet of meeting space. The property is situated on the Las Vegas Strip and sits near the Bellagio fountains, the entertainment hub, The Park and the 20,000-seat T-Mobile Arena.

Beyond Las Vegas, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts continues to grow its brand in the U.S. and abroad.

“Following the tremendous success of Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, it only made sense to seek another property in the western U.S.,” Rinck said. “Our current pipeline consists of nearly 20 iconic properties ranging from city-centers, such as the recently announced Waldorf Astoria London Admiralty Arch, to resort destinations including Waldorf Astoria Maldives ... [and we] continue to look for iconic locales."
