4 New Hotels in New York City, Philadelphia and Tysons Corner

Stay up to date on the latest venue openings and property renovations, including these found in the East.

New York 

Offering the largest hotel event space footprint in the Big Apple, New York Hilton Midtown reopened its doors in October. The 1,878-room property is located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, just steps away from the Museum of Modern Art and only a few blocks away from places like Central Park and Radio City Music Hall.

During its closure, the hotel has “redefined and rebranded” its event experience team to serve 150,000 square feet of onsite event space, which includes the largest ballroom in the city plus 47 meeting and event suites. 

The property is also offering a “Back to Business” deal: Events booked by December 31, 2021 that occur between November 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022 will receive complimentary event space upgrade and accommodations upgrade, as well as a choice of complimentary WiFi or discounted coffee.  

Also up and running in Manhattan is the Pendry Manhattan West, marking the Pendry's first property in New York City. Designed by architectural design firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the hotel features 164 guest rooms, including 30 suites.

On site, guests can find food and beverage concepts Bar Pendry, the Garden Room and signature restaurant Zou Zou’s, helmed by Chefs Madeline Sperling and Juliana Latif and serving up Eastern Mediterranean fare.  

The property also offers a state-of-the-art fitness center with Peloton bikes and more than 6,000 square feet of multi-purpose entertainment and meeting venues. This includes a 1,600-square-foot ballroom, an open concept gallery, a boardroom and an outdoor terrace space filled with greenery.  

Pennsylvania 

Earlier this year, the City of Brotherly Love welcomed Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, including its Live! Event Center, a 15,000-square-foot meeting, event and convention space. The hotel itself offers 208 guest rooms, ample onsite parking, 11 dining destinations, as well as gaming and nightly entertainment. The hotel, casino and event center are located in South Philadelphia’s Stadium District.

The new Live! Event Center is primed for everything from a one-day meeting to a multi-day conference. Planners can utilize multiple purpose-built event spaces, including the Market Ballroom, which features a high-tech performance stage and an 18-foot ceiling. It can accommodate up to 1,000 attendees. Other spaces include three modern boardrooms and the Liberty Room, ideal for breakout sessions, which can seat up to 100. 

Events can also be hosted outside, with rooftop event rentals available atop the property’s parking structure, providing amazing views of the city skyline and the Stadium District. 

Stylish Boutique Hotel Opens in Virginia’s Tysons Corner 

Virginia’s burgeoning Fairfax County recently welcomed the luxury, new-built property Archer Hotel Tysons in the new Scotts Run South development. This marks the seventh property in Archer’s collection and its fourth on the East Coast. The new Archer is located at the foot of the McLean Silver Line Metro Station and is just nine miles northwest of Washington, D.C.

The 178-room boutique hotel offers four distinct layouts that include a classic king, double king, a king suite and a “den with balcony” suite, the hotel’s largest accommodations.  

Archer Tysons also boasts more than 17,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, with capabilities to host up to 150 attendees in flexible, elegant venues. This includes a stunning seventh-floor penthouse featuring soaring wood-plank ceilings; crystal-clad chandeliers; and the adjoining, mostly covered penthouse terrace, with soft seating, festoon lighting and movable bars. 

F&B options include AKB, a restaurant and bar serving breakfast and dinner. Mornings feature freshly roasted Intelligentsia coffee; a full menu of specialty javas served hot, over ice or on the run; and breakfast favorites like avocado toast and even breakfast pizza. In the evenings, guests can expect an extensive bar menu and shareable fare that includes fresh regional seafood and house-made rotisserie chicken.
