- The Wailea Marriott Resort and Spa (808.879.1922; www.marriott.com) is in the finishing stages of a $60 million renovation that includes a $19 million room upgrade and the conversion of one restaurant into a spa and fitness center. Plans also call for remodeling the entrance to face the ocean and a permanent tent that will cover the activities deck above the banquet hall.
- Royal Lahaina Resort (808.661.3611; www.hawaiianhotelsandresorts.com) is nearing completion of a $30 million room renovation in its 330-room Lahaina Kai Tower, during which each floor was stripped down to its frame and rebuilt. Improvements include state-of-the-art technology and in-room entertainment features such as high-definition, flat-screen TVs and iPod ports.
Lanai
- The Lodge at Koele (808.565.4000; www.fourseasons.com) is now under operation by Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. The property is undergoing a $50 million enhancement that will include a destination spa and wellness center, scheduled to open in 2008.
- Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay (808.565.2000; www.fourseasonshotel.com) recently wrapped up a $50 million renovation and plans to open the Hale Halawai, a 10,200-square-foot event pavilion, in September.
