With a unique ambience that draws upon science, sports, education, and history, the Triangle provides a variety of opportunities to liven up events, and planners can look to local DMCs to take care of all the details.

Sterling Events

  • From large themed events to entertainment, team building and tours, Sterling Events, with offices in Charlotte and Clemmons, N.C., is all about the customer, according to Linda Ilsley, sales and marketing director of the company.

“We take our experience and find out what our clients like and what their goals are to customize what we offer,” she says.

If the client has a specific message or theme in their conference, Ilsley will plan an event based on that theme.

Sterling Events has arranged unique programs such as cooking school sessions and chef’s tables at Fearrington House, a country inn and restaurant near Chapel Hill; NASCAR-themed team-building events; and “Hoops and Dreams” sports tie-in events.

“One of the things we offer is a moonlight theater, with an inflatable screen,” she says. “It’s like a drive-in movie, and we can do a pool party or a specific movie theme around it."

Creative Visions

  • Creative Visions, which is based in Raleigh and has organized events in 14 countries, prides itself on bringing local and international touches to events.

“We know when clients want to find a local flair,” says Allin Foulkrod, president of the company. “We’ve done events in breweries and warehouses, and also arranged elegant dinners on an auditorium stage.”

Foulkrod says the company’s international experience also lends itself to the Triangle market.

“We’ve worked in the Sydney Opera House and the Versailles Palace,” he says. “So when a client wants a special exotic touch for their event, we can provide that, too.”
