Oklahoma City
  • Closed since 1985, the Skirvin Hotel will reopen this month as the Skirvin Hilton (405.272.3040; www.skirvinhilton.com). The circa-1911 building, Oklahoma’s oldest existing hotel property, received a $53.1 million makeover and will have 225 guest rooms, including 20 suites and a presidential suite, and 22,000 square feet of meeting and prefunction space.

  • In October, Oklahoma City’s first skyscraper, the circa-1910 Colcord Hotel (405.601.4300; www.colcordhotel.com) finished a $16 million renovation that included enhancements to its 108 guest rooms and the restoration of numerous high-end architectural details. The property, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has also been updated with Wi-Fi throughout the building, plus flat-screen TVs and radios that double as iPod docking stations in each room.

  • In September, the Sheraton Oklahoma City Hotel (405.235.2780; www.sheratonokc.com) completed a renovation of its 395 guest rooms, which included the addition of high-speed Internet access, Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Beds, dual-line phones with dataports, and a private Executive Club Level with a dedicated business center and concierge services.

Tulsa
  • This summer, the Tulsa Convention Center (918.596.7177; www.tulsaconvention.com) will begin a $30 million expansion, adding another 27,000 square feet of meeting space and a 35,000-square-foot ballroom to its 106,000 square feet of existing space. Completion is scheduled for September 2008 in conjunction with the debut of the $180 million, 18,000-seat, Cesar Pelli-designed Bank of Oklahoma Center.

  • The 462-room Crowne Plaza Hotel Tulsa (918.582.9000; www.ichotelsgroup.com) is undergoing a $9 million-plus renovation that is currently adding new bathrooms and hard and soft goods to guest rooms. After the guest room enhancements are finished, the Crowne Plaza will also renovate its lower level, open a branch of the Daily Grill restaurant and completely renovate its 46,000 square feet of meeting space. Work is ongoing, with final completion scheduled by July 2008.

  • In October, the Radisson Hotel Tulsa (918.627.5000; www.radisson.com) wrapped up a renovation of its 325 guest rooms and added Leapin’ Louie’s Lagoon, an indoor water park.

  • Tulsa International Airport (918.838.5000; www.tulsaairports.com) will complete an expansion and renovation this summer. The project includes new restaurants and retail stores, the expansion of its safety and security areas and the retooling of its baggage service areas.

  • Last year, the Electric Sky Theater and Planetarium opened at the Tulsa Air and Space Museum’s (918.834.9900; www.tulsaairandspacemuseum.com) James E. Bertelsmeyer Planetarium.
