Singapore: Travel Tips

Warm year-round with low crime and a booming economy, Singapore is one of the most modern destinations and easiest places to travel in the region.

When to go
Less than one hundred miles from the equator, Singapore’s tropical climate is fairly constant year-round. Average temperatures range from 75º F to 88º F.

Costs
One of the most expensive Southeast Asian countries, it's still a value compared to major U.S. cities.

Health requirements
No vaccinations are required unless arriving from a country where disease is partly/wholly endemic.

Safety
Singapore is a very safe country country, although visitors should still exercise the same amount of caution as they would in any other destination.

Electricity
Standard voltage is 220-240 volts AC. Some hotels are equipped with 110-120 volt outlets.

Money
Tipping is prohibited at the airport and is at your discretion at hotels. Restaurants include a 10 percent service charge to the bill. Major credit cards are widely accepted.

Visas
Travelers from the U.S. and Canada do not need a visa—only a passport valid for six months from arrival and an onward ticket.
