- The Radisson Phoenix–Chandler hotel opened in January. Formerly operating as the Park Plaza Hotel, the 159-room property received a $4 million renovation prior to raising the Radisson flag. - The Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach Hotel completed a $15 million, property-wide renovation in January. Formerly operating as a Holiday Inn-branded property, the beachfront hotel completely reconfigured its lobby, eliminating walls to create an open atmosphere and creating a new front desk with ocean views through floor-to-ceiling windows, and opening the Aqua Bar, which also features an outdoor patio overlooking the beach and the historic Ventura pier. Other resort improvements include a redesign of the hotel’s restaurant, which was renamed ‘C’ Street after Ventura’s famous California Street surfing spot; the creation of a 24-hour business center; expanding and renovating the hotel’s fitness center; and a remodeling and expansion of the hotel’s meeting facilities, now measuring 16,000 square feet of space and including the Top of the Harbor room, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, beach, city, and Channel Islands. - Boutique hotelier Joie de Vivre Hospitality recently unveiled the Galleria Park Hotel. Formerly operating as the Hotel Sutter, the property completed a $7.1 million renovation. Located in the heart of San Francisco’s financial district, and within blocks of the city’s Union Square, Chinatown and South of Market (SoMa) districts, the historic Art Deco hotel features modern amenities such as complimentary wired and wireless high-speed Internet access, alarm clocks with MP3 connectors and a flat-screen television in each of the hotel’s 177 guest rooms. - Green Valley Ranch Resort, located a short drive east of the Las Vegas Strip in the city of Henderson, recently unveiled a $110 million expansion, the resort’s third expansion project since opening in 2001. This expansion added a three-level parking garage; a new 170-seat race and sports book; a 22-table, 24-hour non-smoking poker room; the Tides Oyster Bar and Turf Grill dining establishments; and 14,000 square feet of meeting and convention space, bringing the resort’s total square footage of meeting space up to 79,000 square feet.
