What are three of the best dining experiences you would recommend for groups visiting Charlotte?
- Center City Upscale Dining: Attendees looking for an unbeatable meal within walking distance of the Charlotte Convention Center have plenty of options. For panoramic views of the “Queen City” skyline and outstanding French and American cuisine, Bentley’s on 27 is sure to make an impression. The restaurant sits on the 27th floor of the Charlotte Plaza Building and can accommodate larger groups of up to 350. Local favorites include steak au poivre, Australian lobster tail and oysters Bentley. Or head to Blue Restaurant & Bar to sample globally inspired entrees and signature cocktails like the Chocolate Grasshopper or the Moulin Rouge. Stay a while to unwind to the sounds of Charlotte’s best live jazz.
- Southern/Regional Cuisine: The Carolinas are synonymous with BBQ, so you can’t leave town without having tasted the best. Two lunch spots in particular, Mac’s in South End and Mert’s Heart & Soul in Center City, are famous for their BBQ eats and comfort food specialties like mac and cheese and Brunswick stew. For Southern flair infused with upscale flavors, don’t miss Noble’s. Chef Jim Noble uses a wood-fire grill and the best local and organic produce to create dishes like jumbo shrimp and grits and grilled lamb shank with summer beans. Private dining rooms accommodate up to 80 guests.
- Local Favorites: To blend in with the Charlotteans, I would suggest local watering holes with terrific menus like City Tavern in Center City and 300 East in Dilworth. Both spots have a relaxing and friendly atmosphere but offer an upscale twist on traditional pub food and a range of tasty entrees inspired by the Carolinas. For a menu worthy of exceptional wine pairings or a phenomenal weekend brunch, Pewter Rose in Dilworth has a quaint and inviting ambiance that keeps the locals coming back for more.
