The former Warwick Hotel is scheduled to reopen as Hotel ZaZa (713.526.1991; www.hotelzazahouston.com) in April following a multimillion-dollar renovation of the property. Located in the Houston Museum District, the 315-room Hotel ZaZa is situated within steps of the 445-acre Hermann Park, 17 museums and the Houston Zoo. The property will feature 17,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a 6,800-square-foot ballroom; a 10,000-square-foot spa; and Monarch, its signature restaurant. Standout amenities will include guest rooms with plasma TVs, gourmet mini bars, upscale Italian linens and down comforters, candlelight turndown service, and “rainforest” showers.
Granduca Luxury Residential Hotel (713.GRANDUCA; www.granducahouston.com) debuted in September just steps from Uptown Park, home to boutiques, cafes and restaurants. The hotel has 130 guest rooms and suites, in addition to a meeting facility and a business center.
Hotel Indigo Houston at The Galleria (713.621.8988; www.hotelindigo.com) debuted last year with 131 guest units and 1,600 square feet of meeting space.
Houston Grand Plaza Hotel (713.748.3221; www.houstongrandplaza.com) is nearing completion of a property-wide renovation that will also include the addition of a spa and a jazz club. The hotel features 600 guest rooms and 52,000 square feet of meeting space.
Doubletree Hotel Houston Intercontinental Airport (281.848.4000; www.hotelhoustonairport.com), formerly Hyatt Regency Houston Airport, recently finished a property-wide renovation. The hotel features 314 guest rooms and suites and more than 18,000 square feet of meeting space.
Renaissance Houston Hotel Greenway Plaza (713.629.1200; www.marriott.com/renaissance-hotel/travel.mi) recently received its fifth consecutive AAA Four Diamond Award for 2007.
DiscoveryGreen (713.333.1161; www.discoverygreen.com), a 12-acre park located in front of the George R. Brown Convention Center, is scheduled to open in early 2008. The development will have green space, promenades, public art, fountains, running trails, restaurants, and an amphitheater. Several sections of the park will be available for group events.
Houston Pavilions (713.654.7110; www.houstonpavilions.com), a $200 million entertainment, retail and office hub in downtown Houston, is scheduled to open in October 2008. The development will feature approximately 350,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, as well as nightlife and entertainment venues, including Houston’s first House of Blues.
Blvd Place (713.621.2011; www.uptown-houston.com), a 21-acre, mixed-use project near Houston’s Galleria, is scheduled to open by 2009 and include 600,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and office space. A 300-room hotel may also be developed as part of the project, but plans have not been finalized.
