National Property Inspections
Omaha, Neb.
Describe your event.
The National Property Inspections annual meeting was held at the Omaha Marriott with approximately 145 guests, including significant others. The meeting’s purpose is for our franchisees to come back to Omaha (the home office city) and meet other franchisees from all across the U.S. and Canada. They share ideas and they’re revitalized with new marketing techniques and information about building/technical practices for continuing education hours.
Why did you decide to host the meeting in Omaha? The meeting has been hosted in other cities, but as the company grew it became more difficult to find the proper location and too expensive to ship the training materials.
What surprised you the most about Omaha?
The easy access to everything and the friendliness and helpfulness from the hotel staff.
What did your attendees seem to enjoy the most?
That they don’t have to travel once they reach the hotel in Omaha. All activities are held in the hotel, which has a restaurant, so there is no need for a rental car. There is also a shopping center across the street with restaurants and nice shops, and a huge mall within walking distance as well.
Was anybody particularly helpful?
Everyone at the hotel is very helpful. They never have a problem with last-minute changes.
What other types of groups would fit well with the destination?
Any group that comes to Omaha with significant others who do not partake in the meeting can enjoy the numerous attractions that Omaha has to offer. The city is easy to navigate and not so spread out that they can’t easily enjoy the day away from the hotel. Depending on the time of the year, golf courses are available, as are College World Series games and the Henry Doorly Zoo.
What were some of the unique activities that you incorporated into the agenda?
Every year for the spouses, we rent a shuttle that takes them to either Omaha Old Market or Village Pointe shopping center for a day of shopping and a nice lunch.
How does Omaha compare to other cities where you have hosted meetings? It’s very convenient for us since the home office is located in Omaha, and there is great dining.
Would you return?
We will continue to have our meetings at the Omaha Marriott as long as we do not outgrow it.
