- Tennessee’s first Westin, The Westin Memphis Beale Street (901.334.5900; www.starwoodhotels.com), is scheduled to open this year. The nine-story, 203-room hotel will offer nearly 7,000 square feet of meeting space.
- Nestled on the river harbor on the northern edge of downtown Memphis, River Inn of Harbor Town (www.riverinnmemphis.com), a 28-room boutique property, is on track to open this fall.
Nashville
- Nashville will soon welcome two Hotel Indigo (866.246.3446; www.hotelindigo.com), properties, one at 1717 West End Ave., scheduled to open this summer, and the second at 301 Union St., on track to open in winter 2008.
- Housed in Nashville’s Signature Tower, Hotel Palomar (615.254.2289; www.signaturetowernashville.com) will feature a spa, fitness center, restaurant, and meeting facilities when it opens in 2009.
- Nashville developer Alex S. Palmer & Co. recently signed a deal to add a hotel under the InterContinental Hotels and Resorts (888.424.6835; www.intercontinental.com) banner to its West End Summit project, which is expected to occupy the entire block of 1600 West End Ave. Scheduled to open in late 2008, the 285-room hotel will offer nearly 18,000 square feet of meeting space and a 10,750-square-foot ballroom.
- The 154-room Hampton Inn and Suites Downtown (800.426.7866; www.hamptoninn.com) is slated to open this spring.
- Union Station–A Wyndham Historic Hotel (615.726.1001; www.wyndham.com) recently completed a multimillion-dollar renovation that included lobby and guest room enhancements.
- The 296-unit Embassy Suites Nashville–Airport (615.871.0033; www.embassysuites.com) is nearing completion of a multimillion-dollar renovation. The hotel, located 2.5 miles from Nashville International Airport and seven miles from downtown, features more than 14,000 square feet of meeting space.
- Nashville International Airport (615.275.1600; www.nashintl.com) recently began work on a $35 million terminal renovation project that will be completed over a five-year period. Included in the project will be reconfigured and reconstructed airport bistros and concessions; a consolidated security checkpoint flanked by water walls; and the construction of larger restrooms on the ground transportation level.
Chattanooga
- The 180-room Chattanooga Clarion (423.265.8708) will be reflagged a Doubletree (800.222.8733; www.doubletree.com) property after a $12 million renovation, which is scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
Smoky Mountains Region
- The Gatlinburg Convention Center (800.343.1475; www.gatlinburg-tennessee.com/conventions) recently constructed a 17,000-square-foot ballroom and renovated its adjacent auditorium, bringing total exhibit and meeting space to 272,000 square feet.
- RiverStone Resort (866.908.0660; www.riverstoneresort.com) recently opened in Pigeon Forge as a master-planned condo-hotel resort offering one- to four-bedroom units as well as 3,600 square feet of meeting space, a spa and a variety of recreational amenities.
- The Incredible Christmas Place, one of the most-visited retail establishments in Pigeon Forge, will mark its 20th anniversary by opening the 145-room Inn at Christmas Place (865.453.0415; www.theinnatchristmasplace.com) in June. The property will feature conference facilities for up to 300 people.
- MainStay Suites Pigeon Forge (865.428.8350; www.mainstaypigeonforge.com) recently expanded its meeting space to 6,000 square feet.
- The 163-room Music Road Hotel and the 140-room Music Road Inn recently expanded their Music Road Convention Center (865.429.7700; www.musicroadhospitality.com) to more than 15,000 square feet.
- The 240,000-square-foot Sevierville Events Center at Bridgemont (865.453.5504; www.seviervilleeventscenter.com) will open in September with nearly 110,000 square feet of function space, four lodging facilities, a 180,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor water park, a spa, several restaurants, 1 million square feet of retail space, and two 18-hole golf courses.
Knoxville
- The 175-room Hampton Inn Knoxville West at Cedar Bluff (865.693.1101; www.hilton.com) opened last August with two meeting rooms.
- Knoxville’s upscale 130-room Cumberland House Hotel opened in September with 3,400 square feet of meeting space, but recently changed names and became the Four Points by Sheraton Knoxville Cumberland House (865.971.4663; www.starwoodhotels.com).
- The SpringHill Suites by Marriott Knoxville at Turkey Creek (888.236.2427; www.marriott.com) will open this month with 103 suites and a 10-seat boardroom.
- Two Comfort Inn and Suites (877.424.6423; www.choicehotels.com) properties are on track to open this year, one this spring on the Strawberry Plains exit and one in North Knoxville this summer.
- The Hilton Knoxville (865.523.2300; www.hilton.com) recently completed a renovation that included guest room and meeting space upgrades. It also expanded its fitness facility and added a covered skywalk to the Knoxville Convention Center.
Tri-Cities Region
- The Millennium Centre (423.232.2001; www.millctr.com), a conference facility in Johnson City with more than 23,000 square feet of meeting space, plans to open an outdoor plaza with 21,000 square feet of additional function space in summer 2008.
