  • The Lodges and The Chateaux at Silver Lake, two Park City Utah-based facilities managed by Premier Resorts, are offering special incentives for meeting planners. Through June 10, 2007, and from Oct. 7 to Dec. 1, 2007, The Lodges offers a meetings rate of $99 for a hotel room and $129 for a one-bedroom suite for blocks of 15 or more rooms per night. The 221-room property has over 7,000 square feet of flexible meeting, banquet and breakout space to accommodate groups of 10 to 250. The rates include complimentary meeting space, one complimentary VIP amenity, and free wireless Internet in guest rooms. For the same period, the Chateaux offers its warm-weather rate of $129 for a hotel room and $159 for a one-bedroom suite, not including taxes. The same features are offered with a minimum of 15 or more rooms. The Chateaux offers 133 rooms and over 9,000 square feet of flexible meeting, banquet and breakout space to accommodate groups of 10 to 450.   • Winter Park Mountain Lodge is offering special summer rates from July through September 2007. The 162-room lodge can host groups from 10 to 250 and offers 8,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, including the 3,000-square-foot Shadow Mountain Ballroom. With a group minimum of 10 rooms per night, rates start at $86 per night and include complimentary meeting space. Nearby summer activities include 600 miles of mountain biking and hiking trails, golf at four mountain courses, fly-fishing, hot-air ballooning, rafting, and horseback riding.   • Summer heats up with the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa’s Napili Gardens Lu’au. Tihati Productions presents authentic music and dance from Hawaii, Fiji, Samoa, Tahiti, and Tonga, as well as Maori traditions. Guests are greeted with a shell lei and a Mai Tai or fruit punch, followed by music, arts and crafts demonstrations, a torch lighting ceremony, a Polynesian fashion show featuring colorful pareaus, or sarongs, an imu ceremony, which consists of unveiling the main dish, and a fire knife finale. Guests can partake of the open Tiki bar and all-you-can-eat buffet of Hawaiian cuisine. The special luaus are held every Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the resort’s Napili Gardens, and will run from June 14 through Aug. 17.   • According to research by the World Travel & Tourism Council’s (WTTC) Tourism Satellite Account, world travel and tourism is expected to generate in excess of $7 trillion in 2007, rising to over $13 trillion over the coming decade. The growth rate to date for 2007 is 3.9 percent, and projected growth between 2008 and 2017 averages 4.3 percent a year. The U.S. continues to hold its top position, with travel and tourism demand accounting for more than $1.69 trillion this year.
