- Barbara Bowden was hired as assistant general manager at The Peabody Orlando. Bowden has been with the hotel since its inception more than 20 years ago. She has served as front office director and reservations manager, as well as corporate director of revenue management for all three Peabody Hotels. She also introduced Peabody Hotels’ own central reservations office to help centralize Peabody Hotels’ revenue management processes. Bowden will also maintain her responsibilities as corporate director of revenue management… Kerzner International Holdings Limited, which runs the Atlantis, Paradise Island, an ocean-themed destination resort in the Bahamas, named Robert F. Cotter president of the company. Cotter was most recently president and chief operating officer of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. He will be based in Plantation, Fla., and will be responsible for the overall operations and marketing of the company. Through its subsidiaries, Kerzner is a leading international developer and operator of destination resorts, casinos and luxury hotels.

- Arturo Escaip Manzur was appointed general director of the Cancun CVB. He replaces Artemio Santos Santos, who took a new position with the Mexico Tourism Board. Escaip Manzur was formerly the head of COPARMEX, a union representing Mexican industrial workers.

- Renaissance Worthington Hotel appointed Jim Gabler director of sales and marketing. Gabler previously was the director of sales and marketing at the Adam’s Mark Hotel in Dallas. Prior to that, he was employed for 17 years with Marriott International. In his new position, Gabler will oversee sales, strategic marketing and promotional activities for the Worthington… Eric Terry was named vice president of sales and marketing for Benchmark Hospitality International and will be based at the company’s home office near Houston. Prior to the appointment, Terry spent more than three decades working within the entertainment, hotel, casino resort, and events marketing industries. He also served as vice president of sales and marketing for Dallas-based Malibu Entertainment Worldwide, which operates 35 family-oriented entertainment parks throughout the U.S.… Horseshoe Bay Resort named Martha Heagany chief marketing officer. She has 30-plus years of resort industry experience. Prior to her appointment, Heagany served as vice president of marketing for Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, and as vice president of sales and marketing at the One & Only Palmilla in Los Cabos. Heagany is responsible for all marketing operations for Horseshoe Bay Resort… Horseshoe Bay Resort also appointed G. Michael Thomas, CHA, as president and chief operating officer of the resort. Thomas also brings more than 30 years of experience to the position, having served as president and chief operating officer of Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, regional vice president at ClubCorp. and president and COO for Daufuskie Island and Breathe Spa in South Carolina. He is responsible for all resort and club operations at Horseshoe Bay Resort.

- Kris Reagan took the reigns as director of sales and marketing for The Chattanoogan, a Benchmark Hospitality International property in Chattanooga. Reagan was previously director of sales for the property, and prior to that served in senior management positions in both sales and operations for Hilton properties located in both Chattanooga and Savannah, Ga. The Chattanoogan, a 210,000-square-foot, five-story resort, offers 199 guest rooms and suites and a 25,000-square-foot conference center.

- Beverly Nicholson Doty was confirmed as commissioner of tourism of the U.S. Virgin Islands by the Virgin Islands Legislature, taking over the post held by Pamela Richards, former chairman of the Caribbean Tourism Organization. Nicholson Doty, whose career spans 25 years in the tourism and hospitality industry, most recently served as president of the U.S. Virgin Islands Hotel & Tourism Association.
