What are three top dining experiences you would recommend for groups visiting Des Moines?
  • Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar: Fleming’s in West Des Moines at Jordan Creek is a fabulous steak house that has all the ambience to reward and celebrate your hard work and success. With its impeccable service, quality of food and attention to detail, you are assured that your dining experience is a memorable one every time. This is a restaurant where the manager cares about his establishment’s reputation and it shows.

  • Centro: A locally owned restaurant that is the place to see and be seen, Centro is adjacent to The Temple for Performing Arts and is bustling with activity. The open-style seating and wood burning stoves create an atmosphere where you can sit and watch the action or enjoy the conversation. The restaurant can accommodate large parties in the general area for a group experience with excellent food. When the 2004 Iowa Caucus convened in Des Moines, this was the gathering site for media from across the country and continues to be a visitor favorite.

  • Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewing Company: This is my favorite restaurant for lunch, and I enjoy it for dinner, too. The service is attentive and the food is awesome. You will always see the owner of this restaurant during your dining experience. He always has a minute to talk about the happenings in downtown and a bit of politics. His commitment to the community is apparent. The restaurant offers a private dining room that faces Court Avenue, which works perfectly for board meetings, site visits, and special functions, and seats up to 12. After a long day, this is a great place to unwind. The microbrews are fabulous and the service tops off the experience—Midwestern hospitality like you would expect.
