  • Baseball fans can head to Cooperstown, N.Y., July 27-30 for the Hall of Fame Induction Weekend at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. The highlight of the festivities is on Sunday, July 29, with the commencement of the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at Clark Sports Center. The event, which is open to the public and free of charge this year, honors Tony Gwynn and Cal Ripken Jr. Other weekend activities include Connecting Generations, a program that allows visitors to compete in a trivia contest with Hall of Famers Jim Palmer, Brooks Robinson, Duke Snider, and Robin Yount.   • The Madison, A Loews Hotel, in Washington, D.C., is offering meeting planners its Stress Free Meetings package, available to new groups booked Aug. 1-Sept. 4 or Dec. 19-March 2, 2008. The package rate starts from $209 weekdays, Sunday through Thursday, and $169 weekends, Friday and Saturday. In addition to a designated meeting concierge, planners will be able to select meeting enhancements based upon total room nights. Every 25 room nights above 50 are eligible for an additional incentive. The first incentive starts with a minimum of 50 rooms and there is a maximum of seven incentives per booking of 200 room nights. The meeting enhancement selections include one VIP suite upgrade, a credit of 10 percent on a meeting break, two complimentary valet parking passes, complimentary meeting room rental, and two half-price staff rooms.   • The Fairmont Washington, D.C. launched its Weekend Meetings at the Fairmont package in April. Through April 2008, groups booking a minimum of 75 guest rooms on a Friday or Saturday evening will receive discounted rates from $229 per night along with complimentary services and exclusive amenities. The package includes the complimentary use of a main meeting venue and an Eco-Break, featuring organic products and juices. A group’s top two VIPs can receive upgrades to Capital Premier Suites, including complimentary roundtrip airport transfers. All attendees will receive free in-room Internet access.
