What are three of your favorite off-site venues in Reno?
- National Automobile Museum: This museum, with its collection of vintage cars, is really well set up for groups. We’ve held events there for 300 people or more. There are galleries of cars from all different eras—the ’30s, ’40s, ’50s, and so on. You can pass hors d’oeuvres while people are strolling through the galleries and enjoying the cars. What’s really fun is to stage a scavenger hunt with clues planted throughout the museum. Another plus is that it’s really convenient to most hotels in Reno.
- Nevada Museum of Art: You can do events for a wide variety of group sizes here. They offer great indoor and outdoor space, including a roof where people can take in the views of downtown Reno and the mountains. People can spend an hour or so viewing the art exhibits and enjoy cocktails and live jazz. Then they can gather for an elegant sit-down dinner.
- National Bowling Stadium: This is something really unique to Reno. They have a number of private areas adjacent to the bowling lanes. You can reserve one of the areas plus some of the lanes for the exclusive use of the group. We’ve had customized bowling shirts made with the company logo and colors. We’ve also brought in a bowling pro to give some tips and instruction to the group. It’s a lighthearted atmosphere and it’s best to keep things casual. For food and beverage, things like barbecued meats, cold cuts, potato salad, and beer work best.
