  • San Francisco’s Best Western Miyako Inn has been converted into the Japanese-themed Best Western Hotel Tomo, a property of Joie de Vivre Hospitality. The 125-room hotel features bright colors and art stylings derived from Japan’s anima, manga and street fashion. It also offers two gaming suites with six-foot LCD projection screens, a Sony PS3, Nintendo Wii and Wi-Fi, a fitness center, and five meeting spaces.   • The Four Points by Sheraton Monrovia-Pasadena completed a $6.5 million renovation and brand change to a Courtyard by Marriott. The Courtyard Los Angeles Pasadena/Monrovia, opening in July, includes a number of upgrades, such as a new multipurpose lobby, equipped with free wireless Internet and space for casual meetings.   • When the 207-room Vail Plaza Hotel & Club opens its doors this summer, it will be the first hotel to open in Vail Village in more than 40 years. The hotel will feature an array of upscale accommodations ranging from standard guest rooms up to four-bedroom suites. All suites are outfitted with full gourmet kitchens complete with a private chef.   • The Doubletree Hotel Denver in spring unveiled an $8.2 million hotel-wide renovation, including upgrades to its guest rooms, meeting space, dining outlets, and recreation facilities.   • The Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa completed a $50 million renovation, including the addition of the 12,096-square-foot Naupaka Ballroom for corporate meetings and incentive groups. The ballroom, which is divisible into seven meeting rooms, can host 1,250 for receptions, 850 for banquets and 1,333 theater style.   • The Aladdin officially transformed into the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in April, with 2,600 movie-themed rooms and suites and 75,000 square feet of meeting space, including its Grand Ballroom and a full-service business center. Also on property is a renovated 7,000-seat Theatre for the Performing Arts and a new 1,500-seat Showroom, as well as a spa.   • The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino is renovating more than 3,000 of its all-suite rooms, adding wireless Internet as well as updated multimedia, including plasma screens in some rooms. The $100 million renovation began in early 2007 and is expected to be completed this fall. Another project development adjacent to the Venetian is the Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino. The $1.8 billion casino will include an all-suite 50-floor luxury hotel tower with 3,025-rooms, 375 concierge-level suites and six villas with up to 11,000 square feet each.
