Northern Virginia
  • The George Washington Hotel–A Wyndham Historic Hotel (540.678.4700; www.wyndham.com) is scheduled to open in Winchester this October with 90 guest rooms and 6,000 square feet of meeting space for up to 300 people. Crystal chandeliers, 16-foot ceilings and 12-foot original windows enhance the top-to-bottom restoration with 21st century features like wireless Internet access.

  • The Westin Alexandria (703.253.8601; www.westin.com) is slated to debut this fall with 319 guest rooms and 20,000 square feet of meeting space, including the largest ballroom in Old Town Alexandria.

  • Hotel Monaco Alexandria (202.939.6441; www.kimptonhotels.com) is scheduled to open in October. The property will feature a signature restaurant, 241 guest rooms and 8,000 square feet of meeting space.

  • Hotel Sierra Washington-Dulles (703.435.9002; www.thehotelsierradulles.com/dulles) is scheduled to debut later this summer with 99 suites and meeting space for up to 100 people.

  • Hampton Inn and Suites Washington-Dulles (703.563.1500; www.hamptonsuites dullesairport.com) is slated to open in October with 170 guest rooms and 3,600 square feet of meeting space.

  • SpringHill Suites by Marriott Dulles Airport (703.444.3944; www.marriott.com) opened earlier this year with 158 suites. Three meeting rooms offer a combined 18,000 square feet of space.

  • Hampton Inn and Suites (540.786.5000; www.hamptoninn.com) is one of Fredericksburg’s newest properties. The hotel has 122 suites and a divisible meeting room with 890 square feet of space. Wireless Internet, a business center, a fitness center, and an outdoor pool are among the features of the property.

  • Lansdowne Resort (703.729.8400; www.lansdowneresort.com) recently unveiled its new Shark Bite 9-hole golf course adjacent to Greg Norman’s 18-hole championship course. The new course is long enough to challenge experienced golfers looking for a quick round, and it is also well suited to novice golfers.

Central Virginia
  • Doubletree Hotel Richmond Downtown (804.644.9871; www.doubletree.com) recently opened in Richmond’s historic downtown. The former Radisson property has an all-new interior, including guest rooms with granite countertops, cherry and chrome fixtures, ergonomic chairs, and wireless high-speed Internet access. The property features 7,800 square feet of meeting space.

  • Hilton Garden Inn Charlottesville (434.979.4442; www.hilton.com) is Charlottesville’s newest hotel, offering 124 guest rooms and 1,800 square feet of flexible meeting space, in addition to high-tech capabilities, a 24-hour business center and an indoor pool.

  • Mariners Landing Resort Community and Conference Center (800.851.4988; www.marinerslanding.com), set on 1,100 acres at Smith Mountain Lake west of Lynchburg, recently unveiled 7,500 square feet of new meeting space and has more under construction. A new Executive Meeting Center will add 20,000 additional square feet of function space, including a ballroom with views of Smith Mountain Lake.

Hampton Roads
  • The 234-room Westin Hotel at Town Center (800.937.8461; www.starwoodhotels.com/westin) is scheduled to open in Virginia Beach this fall with 10,000 square feet of meeting space.

  • Sandler Center for the Performing Arts at Virginia Beach Town Center (www.vbfun.com) is slated to debut this fall with 1,200 seats and an outdoor performance plaza. Group venues will be available.

  • Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center (757.664.1074; www.halfmoone.org) recently opened in Norfolk with 80,000 square feet of event space for up to 400 people. Included are a grand rotunda and an outdoor deck.

  • The Newport News Marriott at City Center (757.873.9299; www.marriott.com) debuted last year with 256 guest rooms and 25,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 12,000-square-foot grand ballroom.

  • Great Wolf Lodge Williamsburg (757.345.7124; www.greatwolf.com) recently unveiled a 10,000-square-foot conference center, including a 5,000-square-foot ballroom. The addition boosts the lodge’s total square footage of meeting space to 20,000. The outdoor Dogwood Terrace separates the new addition from the main lodge, where lodge guests enjoy an indoor waterpark, among other amenities.

  • Wedmore Place (757.258.0899; www.wedmoreplace.com), a 28-room upscale boutique hotel, recently opened on the grounds of the Williamsburg Winery. Features include 1,000 square feet of meeting space decorated in the style of a medieval castle. Windows overlook woodlands, and the main conference center features a wood-burning fireplace.

  • TownePlace at Greenbriar (757.502.4898; www.visitchesapeake.com), a 170,000-square-foot dining, retail and entertainment development, is slated to debut this fall near the Chesapeake Conference Center, along with a Hyatt Place property, a new brand by Hyatt Hotels.

Western Virginia
  • The Wytheville Meeting Center (866.694.8287; www.wythevillemeetingcenter.com) recently debuted on the campus of Wytheville Community College. The center offers 14,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 9,000-square-foot ballroom.

  • Masonic Temple Banquet Hall (540.437.3728) in Harrisonburg’s historic district is now open for private events of up to 100 people.
