- In conjunction with the revitalization of Wilmington’s riverfront, the Chase Center on the Riverfront (302.425.3929; www.centerontheriverfront.com) recently completed a $7 million renovation. With the addition of the 31,900-square-foot exhibit hall and lobby, the 266-seat auditorium and the 5,200-square-foot Christina Room, the Chase Center on the Riverfront becomes the largest meeting venue in the area, with over 87,000 square feet of meeting space.
- The Delaware Art Museum (302.571.9590; www.delart.org), home to more than 12,000 works of American and English art, underwent a $31 million makeover and added function space designed for larger traveling exhibitions and meetings.
- The Delaware Museum of Natural History (302.658.9111; www.delmnh.org) recently finished a $5 million renovation.
- The Rockwood Mansion Park (302.761.4340; www.rockwood.org) wrapped up a $16 million renovation, including the conversion of an old barn to a state-of-the-art visitor center that features breakout rooms.
- Russell W. Peterson Urban Wildlife Refuge (302.425.4890) is undergoing a $10 million renovation./li>
Dover
- The 153-room Sheraton Dover Hotel (302.678.8500; www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/dover) completed a $7 million, property-wide renovation in August 2006.
- The Dover Downs Hotel & Casino (302.674.4600; www.doverdowns.com) plans to finish a $56 million expansion by fall 2008. The project will feature a new main entrance, a new gaming floor with more than 500 additional slot machines and the new Dover Downs Fire and Ice Lounge. The property will also more than double its number of hotel rooms to 500 and add the 6,000-square-foot Toppers Spa Salon.
