  • Masterworks by American artist Georgia O’Keeffe will be presented this fall at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. The exhibition, Georgia O’Keeffe: Circling Around Abstraction, features 44 works, including drawings, watercolors, paintings, pastels, and sculptures dating from 1915 to the 1970s. The title refers to the theme of the exhibit, which is to track the evolution of O’Keeffe’s use of the circular motif throughout her career. This exhibition will be on view from Oct. 7 through Jan. 6, 2008. For more information, call 612.870.3131 or visit www.artsmia.org.

  • The Detroit Institute of Arts, which has been closed to the public since May, is putting the finishing touches on a large-scale renovation and expansion project. The exterior walls on the wings will feature new marble and the museum is adding 35,000 square feet of gallery space, including a four-story addition to the South Wing. In addition, the institute is adding new amenities, including an expanded cafe and a new museum shop. The refurbished museum will reopen Nov. 23. • Guided running tours are now being offered in Chicago with City Running Tours, an organization dedicated to bringing guided running tours to major cities across the U.S. The company offers one-on-one as well as group runs. Similar to a walking tour, sightseeing with Chicago Run involves running side-by-side with an experienced guide who, along the way, points out sites and conveys the history of that particular site as well as little-known facts. Five tours are available; the company can also organize customized tours. Some of the highlights include views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago River and the history of old Chicago and Wrigley Field.
