- Solage Calistoga (707.226.0800; www.solagecalistoga.com), a design-focused, environmentally conscious property, opened in July as the first installment of Auberge Resorts’ hip new Solage brand. The hotel has 89 guest units, 16,200 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space, and a 20,000-square-foot spa.
- Gaia Napa Valley Hotel & Spa (888.798. 3777; www.gaianapavalleyhotel.com) debuted earlier this year in American Canyon. The property has received gold certification through the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system. Gaia Napa Valley features 132 guest units and five meeting rooms accommodating up to 400 people.
- The Westin Verasa (800.937.8461; www.westinnaparesidences.com) is slated to open in spring 2008 in downtown Napa. The 160-unit condo-hotel, which will be managed by Intrawest Corporation, will feature 5,300 square feet of conference space.
- AVIA Napa (866.644.2842; www.lodgeworks.com), formerly called the Inn at Town Center, is expected to open in spring 2009 in downtown Napa. The hotel will feature 141 guest rooms and suites and 1,900 square feet of meeting space.
- Bardessono Inn and Spa (425.216.1030; www.mtmluxurylodging.com) is scheduled to debut in Yountville in summer 2008. Located on part of the original Bardessono family vineyard, the environmentally sensitive, luxury boutique property will feature 62 guest units, an upscale restaurant and banquet facilities.
- The Carneros Inn (707.299.4900; www.thecarnerosinn.com), a PlumpJack Resort, held the grand opening of its 17 fractional ownership units in October, marking the completion of the $35 million second phase of the property, which features 86 cottages on 27 acres. Aside from the fractional ownership units, phase two included the addition of 5,000 square feet of meeting space; Farm, the hotel’s signature restaurant; a town square; bocce ball courts; a second pool area; and a 2,800-square-foot fitness center.
- The Meritage Resort at Napa (707.251.1900; www.themeritageresort.com), which opened in 2006, unveiled its 20,000-square-foot Estate Wine Cave in May. Carved into a hillside of the resort’s private vineyards, the cave features Spa Terra; a wine-tasting room that can be reserved for private events; and space for sit-down dinners of up to 200 people.
- The Embassy Suites Napa Valley (707.253.9540; www.embassysuitesnapa.com) wrapped up a multimillion-dollar renovation of its guest units last year.
- The Harvest Inn (707.963.9463; www.harvestinn.com) in St. Helena recently added 20 new guest rooms, bringing its total guest room count to 74.
- Silverado Resort (707.257.0200; www.silveradoresort.com) in Napa plans to finish a renovation of its meeting rooms by the beginning of 2008.
- Yountville Inn (707.944.5600; www.yountvilleinn.com) in Yountville plans to unveil 32 additional guest rooms and a conference center accommodating up to 100 people in 2009. The inn currently hosts meetings of up to 30 people.
- Villagio Inn & Spa (707.944.8877; www.villagio.com) in Yountville plans to open a larger, more comprehensive spa in early 2008, at which time its existing spa will close. The property also recently completed a guest room renovation and debuted a new 16,000-square-foot outdoor event venue.
Sonoma County
- Bodega Bay Lodge and Spa (707.875. 3525; www.bodegabaylodge.com) recently finished a $3 million renovation that included enhancements to guest rooms and other areas of the hotel.
- The 102-room Hampton Inn & Suites Rohnert Park (707.586.8700; www.hamptoninn.com) opened in October with meeting facilities for up to 40 people.
- A 109-room Hilton Garden Inn (877.STAY HGI; www.hiltongardeninn.com) is expected to open in Santa Rosa by the end of the year.
- On Oct. 28, Horizon Air (800.547.9308; www.alaskaair.com) launched daily direct service between Portland and Sonoma County Airport and added a third nonstop flight between Los Angeles and Sonoma County Airport. Horizon Air now serves Sonoma County Airport with service from Seattle, Portland and Los Angeles.
