- The $325 million JW Marriott Complex (www.marriott.com), slated for completion in 2010, will include a total of 1,568 rooms and 110,000 square feet of meeting space connected by skywalk to the Indiana Convention Center. It will comprise a JW Marriott, Courtyard by Marriott, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, and SpringHill Suites by Marriott. The complex will boast a 45,000-square-foot grand ballroom, the largest in Indiana and one of the largest in the Midwest.
- Sheraton Indianapolis City Centre Hotel (317.635.2000; www.starwoodhotels.com), formerly a Radisson, opened in July. Located in historic Monument Circle, the recently renovated property offers 378 guest rooms, 18,000 square feet of meeting space and the only rooftop pool in downtown Indianapolis.
- The Conrad Hotel (317.713.5000; www.hilton.com) opened last year. The 23-story tower offers 241 guest rooms, 10,000 square feet of meeting space, a business center, a spa, and fitness facilities. The hotel is located in the heart of downtown, within walking distance of the Indiana Convention Center.
- Hyatt Regency Indianapolis (317.632.1234; www.indianapolis.hyatt.com) completed an $11 million renovation and expansion in September. The project enhanced the lobby and added an 8,000-square-foot ballroom, four new meeting rooms, a new Italian-American restaurant, and a lounge. The property offers 497 guest rooms with views of the city.
- Lucas Oil Stadium (317.262.3400; www.iccrd.com) broke ground in 2005 as the new home of the Indianapolis Colts football team and a venue for major conventions. Upon the stadium’s completion in 2008, the RCA Dome will be leveled to make way for an expansion of the Indiana Convention Center, to be completed in 2010 and connected to the new stadium. Together, the new convention center and stadium will cost $900 million and boast 747,000 square feet of exhibit space.
- The design for the new expansion of the Indiana Convention Center (317.262.3400; www.iccrd.com) was unveiled in June. When it is completed in 2010, the $275 million project will nearly double the size of the facility from 725,000 square feet to 1.2 million square feet.
Indianapolis Environs
- In March 2007, developers received preliminary approval to build a 250-room Westin (800.937.8461; www.starwoodhotels.com) at Indianapolis International Airport. If it goes forward, the $50 million to $60 million property would be connected to the airport’s new midfield terminal and open in late 2008 or spring 2009.
- A $9 million, 103-room Cambria Suites (877.424.6423; www.choicehotels.com) will open near Indianapolis International Airport by early 2009.
- Adam’s Mark Indianapolis (800.444.2326; www.adamsmark.com) recently completed a multimillion-dollar renovation.
- Indianapolis International Airport (317.487.7243; www.indianapolisairport.com) is undergoing more than $1 billion in upgrades that are slated for completion in 2008. The expansion will include a new midfield terminal and concourse, adding more than 40 new gates and extra parking.
