  • Borgata Hotel, Casino and Spa (609.317.1000; www.theborgata.com) plans to unveil its hotel tower addition, the Water Club at Borgata, in the first half of 2008. The property will feature 800 guest rooms and suites; 18,000 square feet of meeting space, a two-story spa with 15 treatment rooms, a lap pool and a fitness center; and six retail shops.

  • Harrah’s Atlantic City (609.441.5000; www.harrahs.com) is building a 964-room hotel tower addition, scheduled to open in mid-2008. Harrah’s Atlantic City also recently opened the first phase of a major expansion featuring 172,000 square feet of retail and entertainment space, including an Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa with 24 treatment rooms and the city’s largest indoor pool. The pool area includes seven Jacuzzis and private cabanas, and is available for special events.

  • A 786-room hotel tower addition is under construction at Trump Taj Mahal (609.449.1000; www.trumptaj.com) and slated for completion in summer 2008.

  • The Chelsea, Atlantic City’s first non-gaming boutique hotel, will open in spring 2008 with 337 guest rooms, 4,400 square feet of banquet space and two restaurants (one connected to a 15,000-square-foot outdoor pool deck and bar).

  • Courtyard by Marriott Atlantic City (609.345.7070; www.marriott.com) will open in early 2008 with 203 guest rooms, plus meeting space and a boardroom.

  • Three resorts that will feature large hotel towers, casinos, shopping, entertainment, dining, and meeting facilities are in the planning stages and expected to open in 2011 or 2012. Pinnacle Entertainment (www.pnkinc.com) will build a 1,000-room project on the former location of the Sands casino resort and expand the property to the boardwalk. Revel Entertainment (www.revelentertainment.com), a newly formed company, will build on a 20-acre tract next to Showboat Casino-Hotel. The project will have anywhere from 1,000 rooms to 3,000 rooms. MGM Mirage(www.mgmmirage.com) is planning a 60-acre project next to Borgata in the Marina District, with three large hotel towers and expansive retail and convention space.

  • The recently opened Pier Shops at Caesars (609.345.3100; www.thepiershopsatcaesars.com), a 575,000-square-foot retail, entertainment and dining space on three levels, includes two stories of retail and a third level of popular restaurants. The fourth floor, still under construction, will feature an event and wedding facility.

  • The second phase of Atlantic City Outlets, The Walk (609.872.7002; www.acoutlets.com) recently debuted, adding 350,000 square feet of brand name retail stores and restaurants. The phase essentially doubled the district’s size. The Walk starts just steps from the Atlantic City Convention Center and encompasses about eight city blocks.
