What are three great ways to experience the waterfront appeal of Fairfield County?

  • Recreation: Situated on Long Island Sound, we have options such as Orvis-endorsed fishing guides for four to 80 people, windsurfing, sailing, and kayaking team-building programs. Groups can leave from Rowayton, which is part of Norwalk, on a kayaking adventure to an islet for a picnic lunch. Most water activities include lessons beforehand.

  • Beaches: We have four notable beaches along our coastline that are perfect for relaxing downtime. Popular bird-watching spots are Stratford’s Long Beach and Short Beach—the National Audubon Society says its one of the top destinations in Connecticut for migratory birds. In Bridgeport is Seaside Park, a three-mile white-sand beach with Fayerweather Island Lighthouse, where concerts ranging from rock to symphony are staged. Compo Beach in Westport, where the British landed during the Revolutionary War, is a historic and popular beach.

  • Dining: There are several restaurants, ranging from a dock dining/picnic atmosphere, such as Bridgeport’s Captain’s Cove, to the more upscale South Norwalk-based Calf Pasture Beach, with direct views of New York City. Here, groups can do formal dinners under a tent all summer. Paradise Bar & Grille and Crab Shell Restaurant are located next to each other at the marina in Stamford, where there is a fabulous assortment of private ships right in front of you.
