Publishing a magazine is kind of like putting on a show—you select a venue (tabloid-size preferred), hire the talent, do a dress rehearsal or two, market to attract an audience, and then the curtain rises and you put it all on stage.
Meeting planners also must put on a show, and what better place to “take it to the stage” than at a historic theater.
Many of these ornate palaces just barely sidestepped the wrecking ball and are now trying to fill seats by courting the meetings market. Check out Associate Editor Marlene Goldman’s “Playing the Palace” story on page 25 to gain admission.
Also, as this is an election year, make sure your vote counts! Well, at least as part of our annual Best of MidAmerica Awards.
To vote online and see a ballot of the top hotels and resorts in the Midwest, and select your “fave 15” visit www.meetingstoday.com/awards.
One lucky winner will receive a $100 gift certificate! After all, getting paid to vote is kind of like cutting out the middleman, if you think about it.
