There's a lot to see and do here, and here are but a few of the main highlights, courtesy of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (www.hktb.com).
Victoria Harbour
Victoria Harbour is one of the world’s busiest and most impressive natural harbors. With Hong Kong’s striking coastline serving as a high-rise backdrop to the countless container vessels, junks, sampans, and pleasure craft gliding around the harbor, it’s a view to behold whether during day or night.
A Symphony of Lights
This nightly display features gleaming lights, laser beams and searchlights synchronized to music. On some holidays, pyrotechnic displays launched from the harbor give the show an extra sparkle.
Peak Tower
The newly revitalized Peak Tower is one of Hong Kong’s most popular attractions. It offers striking 360-degree vistas over Hong Kong and a wide range of shopping, dining and entertainment attractions. The Peak Tower also offers a chance to atone for Friday night splurging with free Tai Chi classes on the viewing terrace every Saturday morning—part of the tourism bureau's Cultural Kaleidoscope program.
World’s Largest Outdoor Seated Bronze Buddha
No trip to Hong Kong is complete without a visit to the Tian Tin Buddha—the world’s tallest outdoor seated bronze Buddha—which sits atop the Ngong Ping plateau in the midst of mountainous Lantau Island. The giant Buddha took more than 10 years to complete and was unveiled in 1993. Visitors can climb the 268 steps to reach the statue.
