Describe your event.

It was a 40-person board retreat at the Resort at Squaw Creek in October 2007.

Why did you decide to host the meeting in Lake Tahoe?
Our members love the whole town. We’re in Sacramento, so we’re just right down the hill; it’s easy to get to.

What did your attendees seem to enjoy the most?
Probably the ability to be able to get out of Sacramento and be in an environment where you’re still kind of getting away. Our people meet Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, get Friday afternoon to themselves, meet Saturday morning, and are done by noon. We were there in a period where golf was closed but skiing was not yet available, so we just ate. We ate well.

Was anybody particularly helpful?
Christina Richards in sales at the Resort at Squaw Creek.

Is there anything you wish you had known beforehand?
No, they answered all my questions. Everyone who works up there has lived there quite a while, and they work well together and know the area and suggest great things to do.

What other types of groups would fit well with the property?
Any association, definitely, and corporate groups.

What were some of the unique off-site venues that you used?
We usually go off-site for dinner and went to Graham’s at Squaw Valley.

Would you return?
Definitely.
