North Shore
- The Ritz Carlton Highlands, Lake Tahoe (800.542.8680; www.ritzcarlton.com) is under construction and expected to open in fall 2009 as Lake Tahoe’s first five-star hotel. The 172-room property, part of a new residential resort community at Northstar-at-Tahoe, will feature extensive meeting and conference facilities.
- Ground will be broken in May on a 110-room Marriott Residence Inn (888.236.2427; www.marriott.com) off Highway 80 near Donner Pass.
- In Crystal Bay, the Cal Neva Resort, Spa and Casino (800.225.6382; www.calnevaresort.com) is undergoing a $70 million restoration that includes a new 10,000-square-foot spa.
- In Incline Village, the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino (775.832.1234; www.laketahoe.hyatt.com) recently completed a $2 million remodel of its Lakeside Cottages, the finishing touch on a $62 million property-wide renovation that included enhancements to all 422 guest rooms and the construction of a 20,000-square-foot luxury spa.
- The 190-room Granlibakken Conference Center and Lodge (877.552.6301; www.granlibakken.com) opened its expanded Executive Lodge in June 2007, bringing the resort’s total square footage of conference space to 16,000 square feet.
South Shore
- Ground was recently broken on the Chateau at Heavenly Village (866.422.0919; www.chateauatheavenly.rockresorts.com), which will include 477 deluxe condominium hotel rooms and 70,000 square feet of meeting space. The development will also include a spa and 50,000 square feet of retail space. Completion of the RockResorts-managed property is scheduled for winter 2009–2010.
- In June, Marriott’s Timber Lodge (530.542.6600; www.marriott.com) in Stateline, Nev., will complete a 265-room expansion, bringing its total number of guest rooms and suites to 605.
