Brunswick and The Golden Isles of Georgia CVB
What are three of the best outdoor adventure experiences you would recommend for groups meeting in Brunswick and the Golden Isles?
- Lady Jane: This is a 60-foot, steel-hulled shrimp trawler that has been refurbished to offer excursion tours throughout the waters surrounding Brunswick and The Golden Isles. During a two-hour cruise, the crew drags a net and brings the “catch” aboard, giving passengers opportunities learn about local wildlife and enjoy freshly caught shrimp. Lady Jane is the only shrimp boat in the U.S. that is certified by the U.S. Coast Guard to carry groups of up to 50 passengers during daytime and sunset cruises. Special group charters and rates are available.
- St. Simons Transit Co.: Special dolphin cruises are available aboard St. Simons Transit Co.’s four 40-passenger pontoon boats. The vessels are U.S. Coast Guard-certified and include restrooms onboard. Private charters are available, departing from St. Simons Island or Jekyll Island.
- Little St. Simons Island: A 10,000-acre, privately owned barrier island retreat, Little St. Simons Island is accessible only by boat. Day tours are an ideal introduction to the island’s unspoiled beach, marsh and maritime forests and their inhabitants. Day trips include boat transportation to and from St. Simons Island, a guided interpretive tour focusing on the island’s ecology, history and wildlife, lunch, and an afternoon of free time on the beach. Availability is limited and advance reservations are required.
