Hilton Head Island
What are three great dining experiences you would recommend for groups meeting in Hilton Head?
- Aqua Grille and Lounge: Offering ocean views, cascading indoor waterfalls, tropical fish tanks, and ponds of exotic fish, Aqua Grille and Lounge is a contemporary fine-dining establishment. The restaurant is family owned and operated, specializing in fresh seafood and personal, attentive service. They will wow your guests with an Asian-flared eclectic menu of seafood, steaks and pasta dishes. Aqua Grille and Lounge offers dining in their Wine Room for special private functions for up to 35 guests. Their beautiful banquet room can seat 110 guests for dinner, and if you choose to buy out the restaurant, there is seated dining for groups of up to 170 or cocktail receptions for up to 250.
- The Waterfront Cafe: Located at the base of the famous candy-striped Harbour Town lighthouse, this 145-seat restaurant is literally at the water’s edge, with excellent water and sunset views of Calibogue Sound and Daufuskie Island from every table. It’s another family-owned restaurant. Longtime islanders Lou, his wife Beverly and daughter Lisa Gerber are passionate and dedicated to providing the freshest seafood and American cuisine to our convention visitors. On several occasions I have bought out the restaurant following a sailing regatta. It’s also perfect for dine-arounds or dinner following a cocktail cruise on the beautiful waters surrounding Hilton Head Island.
- Topside at the Quarterdeck: This is another dining experience specializing in the freshest seafood available locally and flown in daily from various ports of call, prepared with minimal fuss to allow the flavors of the sea to take the main stage. It also features thick-cut steaks, pasta and great appetizers. Topside at the Quarterdeck offers expansive views of Calibogue Sound, the Harbour Town Yacht Basin and the famous 18th green of the Harbour Town Golf Links, where the PGA Heritage Classic is played every year. Although the second level of the restaurant is not open for lunch, I have used it on many occasions for a program I developed called “Afternoon in Harbour Town.” Guests enjoy lunch at Topside and free time for shopping in Harbour Town Marina followed by a relaxing dolphin-watch nature cruise. Topside at the Quarterdeck can accommodate groups of up to 148 guests, making it a perfect option for dinner following a cocktail cruise aboard one of Hilton Head Island’s many vessels.
