Detroit Institute of Arts
  • Revered by art lovers as one of the most impressive museums in the world, the Detroit Institute of Arts showcases more than 60,000 pieces, from paintings to sculptures. Perhaps most awe-inspiring is its Rivera Court, a room filled with intricately painted murals by Diego Rivera. Groups can hold events in the Rivera Court as well as the museum’s number of other special event venues, such as Cafe DIA, Crystal Gallery and the foliage-filled Kresge Court. www.dia.org

Fox Theatre
  • Designated a National Historic Landmark and located right on Detroit’s main drag of Woodward Avenue, “The Fox”—as it is affectionately called by locals—is considered the crown jewel of Detroit. Built in the late 1920s as a movie palace, today The Fox brings in headlining acts—from touring Broadway musicals to roaring rock concerts. Even more spectacular than its performance lineup is its ornate, gold-colored decorations. Groups of up to 800 people are welcome for seated events and up to 1,500 can fit for strolling receptions. www.olympiaentertainment.com

The Historic Gem & Century Theatres
  • Located beside Comerica Park and Ford Field (home of the Detroit Lions), The Historic Gem & Century Theatres offer plenty of space for groups as well as top-notch stage entertainment. Built in 1903 as just the Century Theatre, The Gem was added in 1928 and now both venues regularly bring in world-renown stage performances. Groups can meet in both theaters as well as the adjoining Century Grille. www.gemtheatre.com
