Public awareness of the need for environmental stewardship seems hotter than a tire fire, but as the public supplies a seemingly acute demand for this enviable enviro mission, there’s always going to be those who fudge the facts a bit.
One could argue that the inherently wasteful meetings industry—let’s face it, you can’t get 10,000 people together without producing a little trash—is ripe for greening. Just by glancing industry educational offerings, high-minded statements from the largest meetings associations or well-meaning initiatives from the largest—and not so largest—suppliers, you know that green has arrived.
Many questions remain, however, such as “What is green?” or “How can I make sure that I’ll be delivered a green meeting by the suppliers who promise it?”
We had Associate Editor Marlene Goldman, our resident green meetings expert, interview some of the leading lights—florescent, of course—in the industry to find out what they demand in their RFPs, and how to make sure it’s delivered.
Check it out to get your green on.
