Connecticut

  • The Premier Hotel and Suites (203.777.5337; www.newhavensuites.com), formerly a Marriott Residence Inn, reopened in New Haven after a $4 million renovation that included the addition of a 640-square-foot conference room. The hotel features 112 suites, complimentary high-speed Internet access, a business center and a 24-hour fitness center.

  • With actor and House of Blues co-founder Dan Ackroyd in attendance, Mohegan Sun (860.862.8000; www.mohegansun.com) in Uncasville held groundbreaking ceremonies for its new 39-story Earth Hotel Tower. The tower, which will be the tallest in Connecticut, will include 920 rooms, including 261 with a House of Blues theme. Set for completion in October 2010, the expansion will also feature a spa as well as a House of Blues restaurant and music venue with a capacity for 1,500 people.

  • The Sheraton Hotel at Bradley International Airport (860.627.5311; www.sheratonbradley.com) is embarking on a property-wide renovation scheduled for completion next year. The project will include an exterior facelift as well as the refurbishment of all 237 guest rooms, meeting space and public areas.

Maine
  • The Inn by the Sea (207.799.3134; www.innbythesea.com) in Cape Elizabeth near Portland reopened after a renovation that included the redesign of its 57 guest rooms as well as the addition of 1,300 square feet of meeting space, a spa, a fireside bar and expanded decks for outdoor dining.

Massachusetts
  • The Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel (617.342.5400; www.marriott.com) opened earlier this year in Boston’s Financial District near the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. The 471-room, 21-story hotel offers 20,700 square feet of meeting space, including a 10,200-square-foot ballroom.

  • The Mandarin Oriental Boston (617.535.8888; www.mandarinoriental.com) is slated to open in October near the Hynes Convention Center in Boston’s Back Bay area. The 136-room luxury hotel will have 30,000 square feet of meeting space. There will also be a full-service spa and fine dining restaurant.

  • The W Hotel Theater District (202.629.3587; www.starwoodhotels.com) is under construction in Boston and scheduled to open in August 2009. The hotel will offer 234 guest rooms and suites, 7,500 square feet of meeting space, a fitness center and a spa.

  • Closed since January, the Copley Square Hotel (617.536.9000; www.copleysquare hotel.com) is set to reopen in October following a $14 million renovation. The project includes the redecoration of all 143 guest rooms and a redesign of the lobby and other public areas.

  • The Boston Omni Parker House Hotel Downtown (617.227.8600; www.omnihotels.com), which first opened its doors back in 1855, completed a major renovation that included the updating and refurbishment of all 551 guest rooms. The hotel also restored its exterior facade, renovated its meeting space and restaurants and added a 24-hour fitness center.

  • The Westin Copley Place Boston (617.532.4600; www.westin.com) completed a renovation of its 53,000 square feet of meeting space that included new decor and the installation of new lighting, audiovisual equipment and rigging points in the Essex and America ballrooms.

  • The 334-room, 429-acre Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club (508.896.9000; www.oceanedge.com) in Brewster plans to unveil a 5,000-square-foot ballroom overlooking Cape Cod Bay in spring 2009. The resort recently opened an 18-hole Nicklaus Design Golf Course and the Linx Pavilion, a 2,500-square-foot special events venue with views of the 18th hole.

New Hampshire
  • Following a $3 million renovation, the former Ramada Inn at Amoskeag Falls in Manchester, N.H., was rebranded the Clarion Manchester Hotel (603.669.2660; www.clarionhotel.com).The renovation included the refurbishment of all 118 guest rooms and meeting space, which accommodates up to 100 people. The hotel offers complimentary continental breakfast, an outdoor pool, a fitness center and a business center.

  • The Mount Washington Resort (800.314.1752; www.mountwashingtonresort.com) in Bretton Woods plans to unveil an additional 30,000 square feet of meeting space in December. The expansion, which includes 18 meeting rooms, is part of a $50 million renovation under way at the property. A full-service spa with 13 treatment rooms, men’s and women’s lounges, a fitness studio and a salon will also debut in December.

  • The Radisson Hotel Nashua (603.888.9970; www.radisson.com), formerly the Sheraton Nashua Hotel, will wrap up a renovation in November that includes the refurbishment of all 328 guest rooms and 25,000 square feet of meeting space. The hotel is also adding 14 specialty suites.

Rhode Island
  • The NYLO Providence-Warwick (401.734.4460; www.nylohotel.com) opened near downtown Providence with 163 loft-style guest rooms, 1,450 square feet of meeting space, a restaurant, a bar, a library and a game room opening onto a 3,000-square-foot terrace overlooking the Pawtuxet River. The hotel is part of Pontiac Mills, a mixed-use community where former textile mill buildings are being converted into restaurants, residences, shops and offices.

  • Marcus Hotels and Resorts (www.marcushotelsandresorts.com) will operate the 7th Wave Resort, scheduled to open during the first quarter of 2010 south of Providence in West Warwick. Featuring a Hawaiian surfing theme, the property will have 409 rooms, an indoor waterpark, 12,000 square feet of meeting space, a dinner theater, a themed restaurant, a spa and retail shops.

Vermont
  • Stowe Mountain Lodge (802.253.3560; www.stowemountainlodge.com), a 139-room property managed by Destination Hotels & Resorts, recently opened in Stowe. Along with 12,000 square feet of meeting space, the resort offers a spa and Cooper Wellness, a program of seminars on healthy lifestyle choices. The property is part of Spruce Peak at Stowe, a new $400 million development that includes condominiums, restaurants and retail space.

  • The 151-room Holiday Inn and Conference Center (802.773.6130; www.hivermont.com) in Rutland completed the second phase of a $1.3 million makeover of the interior and exterior spaces of the hotel. The project included the refurbishment of the meeting space and public areas.
