- The 31-story Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel recently opened as the largest hotel in Arizona and the first new hotel built in the city’s revitalized downtown since 1976. - The former Resort Suites Scottsdale was relaunched in October as the Xona Resort Suites after the completion of a multimillion-dollar renovation. The North Scottsdale hotel, an all-suite property, is located on 14 acres and features 431 guest rooms. The one-, two- and four-bedroom suites range from 600 to 1,800 square feet and feature LCD televisions and high-speed wireless Internet access. The resort also offers four pools as well as 7,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space. - Hotel Abri debuted in October in San Francisco’s Union Square. Formerly the Monticello Inn, the hotel recently underwent an extensive transformation. All 90 guest rooms, including 28 suites, were redesigned, as was the hotel’s new lobby lounge. - In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1958 film Vertigo, Personality Hotels is debuting Hotel Vertigo this December in San Francisco, formerly the York Hotel. Vertigo stars James Stewart and Kim Novak lived in the hotel during the last half of the film. The 97-room hotel features five Hitchcock suites—The Gavin, The Scottie, The Carlotta, The Midge and The Madeline—each created around a specific movie character. A mysterious Suite 13 features 13 discreet references to Hitchcock’s film that only those most familiar with the movie will be able to uncover.
