- Homewood Suites by Hilton Silver Spring and Hampton Hotels Silver Spring recently opened their first dual-branded development. Located in Silver Spring, the 13-story hotel boasts 149 Hampton rooms on the lower eight floors and 90 Homewood studio suites on the top five floors. Communal areas include the meeting rooms, business center, pool and workout room. An interactive media presentation is displayed on a 42-inch flat screen television in the lobby, which describes the layout of the hotel. All guest rooms feature amenities such as complimentary high-speed Internet access and free in-room movies. Built in 1969, the hotel is a conversion from a previous office building structure. - The Langham, Boston recently renovated the Wyeth Room, a function room named after New England artist N.C. Wyeth. The room features two of the artist’s original paintings as well as views of Norman Leventhal Park. The Wyeth Room can host receptions and events for up to 80 people and is flexible enough to transition from a business lunch to a reception. The Langham, Boston is housed in the former Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, which was built in 1922. Wyeth was known as one of America’s greatest illustrators. He painted the two murals for the Federal Reserve Bank in the exact location in which they reside today. Before the room became the Wyeth Room, it was used as executive offices for the Federal Reserve Bank. A photograph of N.C. - Mount Washington Resort is undergoing a billion-dollar renaissance as part of a long-term master-planned community project spanning the next decade. The initial phase, a $50 million investment since 2006, is nearing completion with the opening of a new presidential wing. The presidential wing represents the first construction at the hotel in over 100 years, and was designed to complement the hotel’s legacy of having hosted the Bretton Woods International Monetary Conference in 1944. - Doubletree Hotel Cleveland Downtown/Lakeside opened in January. Known as the closest hotel to the renowned Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, the property features 379 guest rooms. - Washington, Penn., later this year will be home to a new upscale Cambria Suites hotel. The new stylishly-designed hotel will feature 103 guest suites that are 25 percent larger than standard hotel rooms. The Cambria Suites Washington all-suite property will feature a large-screen television in the two-story lobby, two flat-screen LCD televisions and complimentary wired and wireless high-speed Internet access throughout the property. - The Embassy Suites Washington, D.C. at the Chevy Chase Pavilion recently completed a $5.2 million renovation. Upgrades were made to the hotel’s 198 suites, public areas, restaurant, fitness center and 6,400 square feet of meeting space. New high-definition televisions were added to every suite, with a 32-inch unit in the bedroom and a 37-inch television in the living room. The high-speed Internet system was also replaced and upgraded. In addition to the property renovation, the management team implemented the Destination Earth sustainability program.
