The 225-room Hotel Felix (312.447.3440; www.hotelfelixchicago.com) will open this month with two meeting rooms and a business center.
The Elysian Hotel (312.664.9500; www.ely sianhotels.com) will open this spring with 188 guest suites and 51 private residences. This property will also include a restaurant run by acclaimed chef Charlie Trotter, a spa and health club, and meeting space for up to 200 people.
In January 2008, the 92-story Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago (312.588.8000; www.trumpchicagohotel.com) debuted with 339 condo-hotel rooms; The Spa at Trump, along with 53 guest rooms that access the spa directly; and 20,000 square feet of meeting space that includes a grand ballroom and five salons.
Last June, the 216-room Hotel Dana (312.202.6018; www.danahotelandspa.com) debuted downtown with 1,800 square feet of meeting space. The hip boutique property also features The Spa at Dana, Ajasteak restaurant and Vertigo Sky Lounge.
In March 2008, two hotels opened on North Dearborn: a 253-unit SpringHill Suites (312.644.4071; www.springhillsuites.com) with a 460-square-foot meeting room and a 270-suite Residence Inn (312.494.9301; www.residenceinn.com).
The historic Blackstone Hotel reopened as The Blackstone, A Renaissance Hotel (312.447.0955; www.renaissancehotels.com) on South Michigan Avenue early last year. The 330-room property, built in 1910, boasts more than 1,400 works of contemporary art by local artists and a restaurant, Mercat a la Planxa, as well as 3,475 square feet of meeting space.
In October, the Fairmont Chicago (312.861.0068; www.fairmont.com/chicago) completed a $50 million renovation that included enhancements to its guest rooms, 84-room Fairmont Gold luxury floor, 11,000-square-foot mySpa, 62,000 square feet of meeting space and ENO tasting room, featuring wine, chocolate and cheese.
