  • For meeting planners looking for savings, New York-based Loews Hotels recently introduced a new value program, available for bookings made now through April 30. Loews is offering meeting planners and attendees a variety of savings in upgrades and services, such as unlimited in-room high-speed Internet, plus credits toward future meetings at 17 Loews Hotels properties. Also included in the Value program are one complimentary room and one VIP upgrade for every 25 rooms booked and one lunch upgrade to a signature Loews menu for a more upscale dining experience and planners can earn a 5 percent credit on rooms revenue, which can be used toward another Loews Hotels meeting.   • Rhode Island’s Marriott Newport is offering two promotions for qualified groups. The Pick Two 2009 Value Date Promotion lets qualified meetings pick two features, such as complimentary Internet access in guest rooms, complimentary room rental, no attrition fees or double Marriott Rewards Points. The “Multiple Meetings. Multiple Rewards” offer features a growing list of options, including one complimentary room per 35 paid room nights, 20 percent discount on in-house audiovisual equipment, waived general session and breakout room rentals, no attrition fees for up to 30 percent slippage, and a 10 percent rebate off of catering revenue to the master account.   • Omni Hotels is offering its new Zero Attrition program across the brand for meetings and events. This program waives the attrition fees for new contracts booked and consumed during this year.   • Rhode Island’s Providence Warwick CVB recently unveiled a marketing promotion and dedicated website in response to the growing interest in drive-market destinations. Nearly 25 percent of the U.S. population lives within 300 miles of the Providence area.
