- The Waterford Hotel Group appointed Michael D. Allen general manager of the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa in Groton. Allen comes to the Mystic Marriott from the Providence Biltmore Hotel in Rhode Island, where he served as the general manager. His experience also includes serving as the general manager of the InterContinental Hotel in Milwaukee and general manager at the Inn and Spa at Loretto, Santa Fe, in N.M.
- Patrick Blangy was appointed director of sales and marketing at Taj Boston. In his new capacity, Blangy will oversee the marketing, reservations, sales and public relations strategies of the hotel. Blangy’s served as a director of marketing and sales at the boutique-style hotels of Orient-Express, resorts such as the Grand Wailea Resort & Spa on Maui and held a corporate director’s position with Renaissance Hotels International.
- The Westin Jersey City Newport hired general manager Michael E. McLaughlin as well as Robert McIntosh as director of sales and marketing. Gary M. Bailey is the hotel’s new director of catering and convention services and Christopher M. Stieh is executive chef. Prior to joining the hotel, McLaughlin worked with Sheraton Hotels of New York for 13 years, most recently as hotel manager at the Sheraton New York Hotel...The Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority (ACCVA) recently named a series of management appointments in the convention and tourism departments. Nicole Van Note-Zacchi was appointed convention services manager. Among other responsibilities, Van Note-Zacchi coordinates all aspects of the ACCVA’s participation in conventions and trade shows. Margie Hurley was named assistant manager for convention services. She is responsible for all service aspects of client convention and trade show needs. Hurley joined the ACCVA in 2004 as convention services staff assistant. Linda Polmonari was named assistant manager of tourism.
- Simon Barnett was appointed director of sales and marketing of Jumeirah Essex House in Manhattan. Barnett brings more than 15 years of hospitality experience to his post. Prior to his new position, Barnett served as the director of sales and marketing for the Jumeirah Carlton Tower and its sister property, the Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel, both based in London… New York-based GFI Hotel Company named Alistair MacLean managing director of its upcoming luxury property the NoMad Hotel, slated to open this winter in the NoMad District of Manhattan. With almost 20 years of experience in the luxury hospitality industry, MacLean previously served as director of operations of Andre Balazs Properties, which included the roles of general manager at Sunset Beach Hotel on Shelter Island and general manager of the Raleigh Hotel in Miami. MacLean was also responsible for overseeing The Standard Hotel, in Downtown Los Angeles; Sereno Beach Hotel, in Saint Barthelemy; and the opening of New York’s Hotel QT... The Westin New York at Times Square hired two new executives to lead its sales team: Mary Beth O’Connor, director of sales and marketing, and Jim Mooney, director of sales. O’Connor spent two decades at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers, including the last four years as director of sales. Mooney joins the property from the Millennium Broadway Hotel, where he was also director of sales. Mooney held various positions within the Starwood family in New York City and Baltimore for nearly 13 years… Ronan Henaff was appointed general manager of The Setai, New York. Henaff was previously general manager of the Cipriani Club 55 Wall Street… The new Doubletree Hotel in Tarrytown appointed Erica Ynoa sales manager, handling corporate groups for the hotel. Previously, Ynoa was sales manager with Fitzpatrick Hotels in Midtown Manhattan... The Whiteface Lodge Resort & Spa in Lake Placid appointed Phil Anderson general manager. Most recently, Anderson served as general manager of The Georgian Terrace Hotel in Atlanta for four years.
- Omni Hotels appointed Scott Stuckey general manager of Omni Bedford Springs Resort, in the Allegheny foothills. Stuckey has been with Omni since 2005, where he previously served as general manager of Florida’s Omni Jacksonville Hotel. Prior to joining Omni Hotels, Stuckey held general manager positions at various Marriott hotels… The Lancaster County Convention Center and Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square recently named Steven Goris director of food and beverage. His responsibilities include overseeing all food operations for the integrated facility, the convention center and the adjoining 300-room hotel, scheduled to open this spring. Goris most recently worked as assistant food and beverage director and director of the convention center operations at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in Sandusky, Ohio… Leonard S. Czarnecki was appointed general manager of the Fairmont Pittsburgh, opening in fall. Prior to this position, Czarnecki was hotel manager at The Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston and was hotel manager at The Plaza in New York. While in New York, Czarnecki also held management positions at The Regency, The Hilton New York, The Waldorf=Astoria and New York Renaissance Hotel.
- Mark Medrick was hired as assistant director of catering for the Fairmont Washington, D.C. Prior to joining the Fairmont, he was the wedding sales manager for the Hotel DuPont in Wilmington, Del. Previously, he was a catering manager for The Four Seasons Hotel in Philadelphia and a catering sales manager for the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.
