The Ritz-Carlton Highlands, Lake Tahoe (530.562.8900; www.ritzcarlton.com) is scheduled to open this fall. The ski-in, ski-out, 170-room upscale property, situated mid-mountain at Northstar-at-Tahoe in Truckee, will feature a 20,000-square-foot spa and 14,000 square feet of meeting space.
The historic Crystal Bay corridor (530.581.8703; www.gotahoenorth.com) is poised for a significant transformation, with plans for an upscale destination resort with 366 hotel rooms and fractional-ownership condominiums. Also planned is 28,000 square feet of retail and dining, 12,500 square feet of meeting space, a two-acre public gathering space, four acres of public parks and open space, and underground parking. Developer Boulder Bay LLC is expecting to have all permits by 2009.
Downtown Truckeeās Hotel Avery (www.ho telavery.com), a 40-suite hotel with dining and spa options, is scheduled to begin construction in late spring with a 2010 holiday opening.
Homewood Mountain Resort (530.525.2992; www.skihomewood.com) is on track to undergo a renovation, including the addition of a pedestrian village, mid-mountain lodge, gondola and underground parking. The village, to be located at the north base, will house an ice cream shop, a hardware store, a market, a 50-room hotel, a spa and a 40-condo complex. Construction is slated to begin in summer 2010, with completion of the project by 2012.
The Cedar House Sport Hotel (530.582.5655; www.cedarhousesporthotel.com) opened a new event facility and meeting center in fall 2008. The expansion closely matches the environmentally sound design of the existing structure that is home to 42 guest rooms and suites. The event facility includes a separate private dining room with two patios and an open kitchen design, perfect for culinary team building or cooking demonstrations for up to 45 people. The new meeting center encompasses two rooms: a small conference room for 10 to 12 people and a main meeting room that fits 30 to 80 participants.
The Tahoe Maritime Museum (530.525.9253; www.tahoemaritimemuseum.org) recently underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation and expansion, and began year-round hours. The museum now has weekend hours beginning in October and returns to a six-day schedule in May.
South Lake Tahoe
Lakeland Village Beach & Mountain Resort (530.544.1685; www.lakeland-village.com) embarked on a complete remodel of its Lakeshore Pavilion. Plans for the first phase, now under way and scheduled for completion early this spring, include the remodel and expansion of the Lakeshore Room, which has views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Phase two will begin this fall and include a remodel of the Lakeshore Pavilion Deck, a second-story facility that will accommodate up to 125 people.
Forest Suites Resort (530.541.6655; www.forestsuites.com) recently completed several renovation projects, which included enhancements to existing meeting facilities and the creation of additional meeting space. The 119-room property now has nearly 4,000 square feet of meeting space.
