Museums & Attractions

  • The San Francisco Museum & Historical Society recently introduced the Old U.S. Mint Building as an event venue. Once a repository for one-third of the nation’s gold reserves, the Old U.S. Mint is one of only five buildings in San Francisco designated a National Historic Landmark. Accommodating stand-up receptions for up to 400 people, The Mint is approximately 100,000 square feet and has 20 rooms available for rent, nine on the ground floor and 11 on the first floor. Groups can host dinners in intimate vaults or cocktail parties in the historic Counting Rooms. The outdoor courtyard is also available. Plans are for The Mint to be transformed into a new museum, scheduled to open in 2013. For more information, call 415.537.1105 or visit www.themintproject.org.
