West Virginia Governor’s Mansion
This 30-room Georgian Revival structure built in 1925 overlooks the Kanawha River and provides first floor spaces for receptions. Guests enjoy dual Georgian staircases, antiques, a ballroom and 14-foot banquet table. www.wvgov.org
West Virginia State Capitol
Designed by Cass Gilbert, the same architect who designed the U.S. Supreme Court Building and New York’s Woolworth Building, the Capitol features a 293-foot gold dome visible from much of the city. First floor spaces are available for receptions. www.wvculture.org/agency/capitol
University of Charleston
The campus on the Kanawha River has grand views of the Governor’s Mansion and Capitol across the river. UC has a variety of special event spaces, including the Rotunda with its wall of windows and river views, and the riverbank, a stage for local festivals and other events. www.ucwv.edu/catering
