  • Embassy Suites Myrtle Beach Hotel (843.449.0006; www.kingstonplantation.com) is putting the finishing touches on renovations to guest rooms and meeting space, in addition to other upgrades. The property’s Embassy Conference Center offers 14,500 square feet of event space. The hotel is located at Kingston Plantation, which also includes the Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort and the Kingston Plantation Villas & Condos. The complex has a total of 70,000 square feet of event space.

  • The Horizon at 77th (866.413.8310; www.horizonmyrtlebeach.com) opened in summer 2008. The hotel includes 143 one-, two- and three-bedroom suites with full kitchens, in addition to 1,300 square feet of meeting space.

  • Sand Dunes Resort Hotel and Ocean Dunes Resort & Villas (800.726.3783; www.sandsresorts.com) made a final round of improvements to its conference space this spring with the addition of The Rawcliffe Center, which includes a new business center, an executive boardroom and group hospitality rooms. The Rawcliffe Center features approximately 20,000 square feet of event space. Lobbies and restaurants were also revamped at the property. The new Hall of Heroes was built at the conference center, which features a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, among a variety of other displays honoring members of the Armed Forces.

  • Pines Lakes Country Club (843.315.7700; www.pinelakes.com) completed a 20-month, $15 million renovation in March. The revamp included improvements to the golf course and clubhouse, and its two ballrooms were also restored. A new History Hall features memorabilia and artifacts from the club’s first days.

  • Coral Beach Resort & Suites (800.576.1754; www.myrtlebeach-resorts.com/coral-beach) opened a waterpark at the property this year. The resort includes 10 pools and a recreation center that features a video arcade and bowling. Meeting space at the property accommodates just over 200 people.

  • Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites, Murrell’s Inlet (843.357.0100; www.ichotelsgroup.com) recently completed an extensive renovation.

  • The Hotel Blue Beachfront Resort (800.843.3466; www.hotelbluemb.com) added a swim-up pool bar to its list of offerings. It’s reportedly the first such amenity in South Carolina. The Hotel Blue Beachfront Resort opened in 2008.
