Describe your event. The Iowa Turfgrass Conference serves golf course superintendents, sports field managers, lawn care professionals and others involved in the management of turfgrass systems. Our purpose is to provide research-based scientific information to professional managers. The conference is held at the Polk County Convention Complex.

Why did you decide to host the meeting in Des Moines?
The meeting has been in Des Moines since 1980; it provides the central location, hotels and other amenities that our attendees desire.

What did your attendees seem to enjoy the most? They enjoy the education and networking opportunities provided by the event, and they like the downtown atmosphere. The skywalk system is extremely popular.

Was anybody particularly helpful? Chris Baker and Trina Flack from the Greater Des Moines CVB are good friends and very supportive. We work with the Des Moines Marriott Downtown, where everyone is very helpful and kind. We love Joanne Patterson at the Polk County Convention Complex.

What other types of groups would fit well with the property? All kinds of groups may find Des Moines attractive. The Polk County Convention Complex is a great property for our group, and the trade show area fits our exhibitors perfectly.

How does Des Moines compare to other cities where you have hosted meetings? Des Moines is popular because of the skywalk system and restaurants; it compares favorably with all other possible venues.

Would you return? We will be back in 2010.
