San Francisco’s Westin St. Francis recently completed a two-year, $40 million transformation. This was the most extensive restoration undertaken by the property since the reconstruction after The Great 1906 San Francisco Earthquake. The hotel , built-in 1904, completed a redesign of the grand main lobby, added a cocktail lounge and renovated its 614 guest rooms, including the addition of 37-inch flat-screen televisions in each room. Approximately $2 million was invested in the complete redesign of the two main building signature suites. The 2,500-square-foot Chairman’s Suite features three bedrooms, a large living room and a dining room with a full kitchen. The State Suite boasts a sauna, Jacuzzi, grand piano and formal dining area. Overlooking Union Square, the State Suite has a view of downtown San Francisco. Hallways and common areas were also refreshed and the famous Great Magneta Clock, which originally made its debut in the hotel lobby in 1907, is again being displayed in the lobby. Just off of the main lobby, the 1906 grand staircase has been restored to showcase the original pink marble stairs. In addition, the Elizabethan, Georgian, California and Colonial function spaces have undergone more than $1.5 million in upgrades. Additional hotel upgrades include wireless Internet access throughout the hotel. For more information, call 415.397.7000 or visit www.westinstfrancis.com.
