Denver
- Construction is under way on the Four Seasons Hotel Denver (888.877.4081; www.starwoodhotels.com), a project slated to open in late spring 2010. The hotel will occupy the first 16 floors of a 45-story building, with the rest dedicated to the Four Seasons Private Residences. The hotel will offer 239 guest rooms and 16,000 square feet of meeting space.
- Ground was broken in April on a new Embassy Suites (800.362.2779; www.embassysuites.com) in downtown Denver. The hotel will be located across the street from the Colorado Convention Center and contain 372 guest rooms and a yet-to-be-determined amount of meeting space. At press time, the opening date had not been released.
- A $70 million renovation is under way at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel (303.893.3333; www.starwoodhotels.com). So far, the lobby and guest rooms have been upgraded and two new restaurants have been added. Throughout the fall, finishing touches will be applied. The entire renovation is slated for completion in January.
- Denver Marriott City Center (303.297.1300; www.marriott.com) completed a property-wide renovation in early 2009.
- Magnolia Hotel Denver (303.607.9000; www.magnoliahoteldenver.com) wrapped up a ballroom renovation in spring 2009. The hotel boasts 246 guest rooms and 10,000 square feet of meeting space.
- The 196-room JW Marriott at Cherry Creek (303.316.2700; www.marriott.com) completed a lobby renovation in spring 2009. The property plans to begin a meeting space redo in January 2010 and finish it by February 2010.
Boulder
- The Westin Westminster (303.410.5000; www.starwoodhotels.com) recently completed a $9 million interior renovation.
- The 269-room Millennium Harvest House (303.443.3850; www.millenniumhotels.com/millenniumboulder) completed a soft goods upgrade to its guest rooms earlier this year.
- St. Julien Hotel & Spa (720.406.9696; www.stjulien.com) finished a soft goods upgrade to its guest rooms earlier this year.
Colorado Springs
- Renaissance Colorado Springs (719.265.8500; www.coloradospringsrenaissance.com) is slated to open in spring 2010 with 50,000 square feet of meeting space and 300 guest rooms.
- The Broadmoor (719.634.7711; www.broadmoor.com) opened The Broadmoor Cottages in May. Located along the 18th hole of the property’s East Golf Course, five of the six cottages offer eight bedrooms each and one offers four bedrooms. With the addition of the cottages, the property offers 744 guest units.
- The 316-room Cheyenne Mountain Resort (719.538.4000; www.cheyennemountain.com) completed a $3.5 million renovation of its public space, lobby, restaurant, bar and some meeting rooms in late 2008. The hotel plans to begin a massive overhaul to its guest rooms and 40,000 square feet of meeting space in late 2010 and finish it by early 2011.
- Located about seven miles west of Colorado Springs in Manitou Springs, The Cliff House at Pikes Peak (719.685.3000; www.thecliffhouse.com) plans to begin a $20 million expansion in 2010. The project will include the addition of 79 guest rooms and a 5,000-square-foot ballroom and is slated for completion in 2012.
