In addition to its well-known outdoor activity options, Colorado is a home base for many cultural attractions. From museums to theaters, the metros of Denver, Boulder and Colorado Springs offer a wide array of group-friendly cultural alternatives.
Denver
Residing inside City Park is the Denver Museum of Nature and Science (303.322.7009; www.dmns.org). The museum boasts 16 permanent exhibits showcasing everything from dinosaur bones to Native American artifacts and an interactive exhibit on space exploration. The museum has 24,000 square feet of event space.
With several professional sports teams in Denver alone, the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame (720.258.3888; www.coloradosports.org) represents a huge part of the state’s culture. Sitting on the west side of INVESCO Field at Mile High, the museum showcases a variety of sports exhibits. Groups are welcome to rent the facility for events, and with 2,800 square feet of gathering space, the venue accommodates 75 guests comfortably.
Boulder
From an opera house (circa 1906) to a live theater venue, the Boulder Theater (303.786.7030; www.bouldertheater.com) has been a long-standing institution in town. Today, it reflects an eclectic Art Deco style, with colorful 22-foot murals as well as a state-of-the-art concert hall. Groups of up to 1,000 people are welcome to rent out the facility.
Located downtown, the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (303.443.2122; www.bmoca.org) reopened in June after a six-month renovation. The museum, which houses contemporary art ranging from sculpture to paintings to photography, now welcomes groups of up to 250 in its upstairs room. Planners can also rent out the entire museum or just one of its galleries for a cocktail reception.
Colorado Springs
For a taste of the true Wild West, groups can head over to the ProRodeo Hall of Fame Museum of the American Cowboy (719.528.4764; www.prorodeohalloffame.com). The museum showcases memorabilia from the country’s best riders and also features a life-size statue of a bucking horse and rider outside. Groups are welcome to mingle in its hall, pavilion and outdoor garden area.
Groups can head over to the dome-shaped building on South Parkside Drive for a fun cultural off-site option. Stargazers Theatre & Events Center (719.476.2200; www.stargazerstheatre.com) regularly brings in acts such as Tyrone Wells and Richie Havens, but delegates can get in on the action, too.
